Short-Term Rental (STR)
PLEASE CLICK HERE TO READ THE STR REGULATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE APPLICATION BELOW
All property owners desiring to engage in the short term rental of a residence in unincorporated Grand County must apply for a Short Term Rental Permit with the Department of Community Development. These permits will need to be applied for on an annual basis, as they will expire one year from the day they are approved.
STR permit fees are based on maximum advertised occupancy. The fee is $100 per occupant. Example: If your property is advertised as sleeping 10 people, your fee is $1,000. Fees can be paid by credit/debit or electronic check. Transaction fees apply. (e-check fee $1.00, credit card fee is $.75 and a 2.25% surcharge).
At the end of the application, you will be directed to another website to pay your fee. Once paid, return to the application with the nine (9) digit Order ID.
The maximum occupancy for any home registering for a Short Term Rental permit is 16 occupants.
To apply, have ready:
- Your property address. You can find this by using our GIS site and searching by the owner's last name. (You can also use this map to verify that the property is in an unincorporated area; town boundaries are identified in yellow.)
- The name and contact information of two local emergency contacts. These must be full-time Grand County residents.
- Complete the STR safety checklist: STR Safety Checklist
Please note: This registration is only for properties located in
UNINCORPORATED Grand County.
This registration is not for properties located within the town limits of
Winter Park, Fraser, Granby, or Grand Lake.
