At Grand County EMS (GCEMS), we are proud to support our community by providing dedicated medical standby services for special events. Our team of professional prehospital providers is highly skilled and experienced, staffing numerous special events throughout Grand County every year. When you partner with us, you ensure the highest level of safety for your attendees.
Please be aware that Grand County EMS is the sole authorized provider of ambulance services within Grand County. All requests for ambulance standby coverage must be directed to our department.
Scheduling & 30-Day Notice Policy: To ensure we can provide dedicated coverage for your event without compromising essential 9-1-1 services for our residents and visitors, strict scheduling protocols are in place.
- Event organizers must contact GCEMS at least 30 days in advance of the event date to schedule a standby.
- Short-notice requests create a significant administrative and operational impact on our ability to maintain county-wide emergency coverage. Consequently, any request made with less than 30 days' notice will incur penalty fees. These late fees are non-negotiable and are necessary to offset the operational strain on the department.
We look forward to working with event hosts to ensure safety remains a top priority. Let’s collaborate to put on the high caliber of events that make us Grand!
Service Types Available:
- Dedicated Ambulance Standby: A fully staffed ambulance will locate themselves at a function or event and will remain dedicated to that event. This ambulance is generally dedicated solely to the event and is not available to respond to other routine EMS calls in the area. Dedicated standbys are subject to the availability of GCEMS crews and resources. The fee for this service is $180/hour for events hosted by Grand County organizations and persons, and $232.51/hour for events hosted by organizations and persons who are based outside of Grand County. There is a minimum charge of two hours for any dedicated standby event.
- Non-Dedicated Ambulance Standby: A fully staffed ambulance, when available, will locate themselves at a function or event but will remain available for EMS calls in the area and/or county. Consistent coverage at the event is not guaranteed and is subject to available on-duty ambulance availability. There is no fee for this service. Events which have an admission fee, and/or that are not open to the general public, and/or generate a profit for the organizer are NOT eligible for non‐dedicated standby services.
