Certified Home Buyers Education Instructors

We are pleased to present this talented group of professionals! All have had extensive experience in the real estate industry and bring their varied experiences into this informative course. Each instructor has been certified by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority to present this class.

Jeff Chapman

Jeff Chapman, originally from Minnesota, has lived in Colorado for eight years. He has been in the mortgage business for six years and is the owner of Homebuyers Mortgage Lending in Steamboat Springs. He specializes in creative financing and enjoys working with first-time buyers.

Cathy Walton-Smith

Cathy Walton-Smith is an independent real estate broker and has been a Grand County resident for over 14 years and in real estate for the past 10 years. In this class, she shares her knowledge of the area and the trickier strategies of buying a property.

Jean Wolter

Jean Wolter, GRI and Broker/Owner of Real Estate of Winter Park has been a licensed broker in Grand County Colorado since 1996. Jean enjoys working with first time home buyers because she finds it very rewarding to help educate buyers through all steps of the home buying process and ultimately achieve their goal of owning a home. Buying in a resort area is tough but Jean maintains with patience and perseverance buyers can find a perfect place to call home.  Jean lives in downtown Fraser with her husband and their Black Lab mix. In her spare time, Jean enjoys both alpine and nordic skiing, hiking, backpacking, rafting and mountain biking.

Robin Herbert

Robin Herbert has lived in Grand County for 20 years. She and her husband first purchased a cabin in Grand Lake and then purchased a year-round home in Granby. Robin has always loved homes and real estate and decided to get her real estate license in 2005, working first with her mother (with 30 year's real estate experience), and then on her own, once her mother retired. In 2013, Robin joined the Re/Max Peak to Peak office which opened in Granby. Re/Max still allows her independence, with strong support systems, national marketing, and great name recognition in place.

Robin's volunteer activities involve support for the youth theatre programs at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre and serving on the Grand County Board of Realtors, the last two years as president. Educated as a teacher, (though she never worked as a teacher, instead she was an insurance underwriter and agent!) with a degree in French and Communications, Robin teaches first time home buyer's classes with the Grand County Housing Authority. It is a joy for her to help locals be able to buy their first homes. It also gives her pleasure to help folks from outside the county find a vacation home, where they can enjoy the beauty, nature, arts and sporting opportunities in Grand County.
