Grand County EMS (GCEMS) is a progressive and focused agency serving the entirety of Grand County, Colorado, with professional pre-hospital medical care 24/7/365. Our providers operate autonomously under the independent medical direction of Dr. Darcy Selenke, M.D., and the operational supervision of an experienced Shift Captain. GCEMS seeks quality applicants for EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic positions as they are available.
Our providers function daily in well-outfitted new ambulances, under agency-specific protocols that allow our paramedics to perform at the top of their skillset in our rural environment. (GCEMS does not utilize the Denver Metro Protocol Set.) GCEMS Protocols include RSI, field antibiotics, pressor support, and more. Additionally, clinicians are able to practice critical care medicine transporting patients in need from our local critical access hospitals to tertiary care facilities in the Denver area.
GCEMS offers a variety of special operations opportunities to our providers. Our Mountain Medical Response Team (MMRT) works with Grand County Search & Rescue to provide rapid medical care to patients injured in the backcountry. Our TEMS team works closely with the multi-agency Middle Park Emergency Response Team to support high-risk law enforcement operations. Additionally, GCEMS also has a wildland fire team that is deployable to local, regional, and national wildland fire incidents.
GCEMS crews typically work 48/96 shifts and run around 3,000 calls annually as an agency. Providers are expected to attend four staff meetings annually and are offered high-quality internal and external continuing education opportunities to remain at the top of their game.

2023 Starting Salary Ranges
Based upon 48/96 schedule upon completion of training with no additional overtime
- EMT-IV – $47,910.17 annually DOQE
- AEMT - $52,820 annually DOQE
- Paramedic - $62,981-70,885 annually DOQE
