The Vital Records Office processes and maintains all birth, marriage / civil union, and death certifications.

Birth & Death Certificates

Birth certificates can now be printed by the Grand County Clerk and Recorder for anyone born in the State of Colorado after 1905. To request a certified copy of birth or death certificate, complete and return an application to the Clerk and Recorder's Office:

Please note the following in order to process an application:

  • The form must be complete
  • We must have a copy of an ID from the requester
  • We must have the payment. There are no additional fees for cash or check. 


Marriage and Civil Union License

A civil union or marriage license may be issued in any county in Colorado and used in any county in Colorado. More information

Restrictions

There are restrictions to the issuance of marriage and civil union licenses, including but not limited to matters concerning age, blood relationship, marital status, union status, or guardianship status. If one party can not appear due to illness or incarceration, he or she must complete an absentee application. For additional information please contact this office at 970-725-3064.
