GRAND COUNTY DEPUTY RECOGNIZED AS DUI ENFORCEMENT HERO
GRAND COUNTY, CO – The Grand County Sheriff’s Office is honored to share that Deputy Steve Hines has been recognized as a DUI Enforcement Hero by Mothers Against Drunk Driving Colorado (MADD). MADD advocates to make our roads and communities safer against drunk and drugged driving to help save lives and support the victims of drunk driving. The Sheriff’s Office acknowledges Deputy Hines for his dedicated work and public service to the Grand County community.
Deputy Steve Hines’ exceptional commitment to DUI enforcement in Grand County is evident in his high work ethic, reliability and internal drive to always serve the community. In 2020, Deputy Hines worked a total of 14 High Visibility Enforcement shifts across 8 enforcement periods. He was the arresting officer for nearly one third of all of the Grand County Sheriff’s Office total DUI arrests in 2020. His enthusiasm and dedication to continued DUI enforcement to protect the public inspire both his coworkers and the community.

The dedication proven by Deputy Steve Hines demonstrates his unwavering commitment to the community he serves, lives and loves his family in.” said Lee Birk, Colorado Department of Transportation Law Enforcement Liaison and retired Chief of Police of the Westminster Police Department.
Grand County sets the example for a best practice with our professional partnership with our local law enforcement agencies on High Visibility Impaired Driving Enforcement (HVE) to join together as a Joint Task Force for our region. Kremmling Police Department, Granby Police Department and Fraser Winter Park Police Department all work in unison to provide additional overtime DUI shift coverage throughout the year.
