OCTOBER COAT DRIVE FOR JAIL BASED BEHAVIORAL SERVICES CLIENTS

GRAND COUNTY, CO – During the month of October, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office will be collecting donated warm and gently-used coats to distribute to our Jail Based Behavioral Services (JBBS) clients when they are released from jail.

As locals, we are very familiar with the often cold and inclement weather associated with our winter weather months in Colorado’s high country. By donating a jacket, you are truly able to help an individual meet their most basic human need for comfort and warmth.

The Jail Based Behavioral Services Program, also known as JBBS, is a Colorado-wide program that began in October 2011. The program provides mental health and substance services to adults that are incarcerated. The program also assists with continuity of care and community reintegration after the person is released from custody. Not only do JBBS programs provide vital behavioral health services to Coloradans, they also help reduce recidivism and increase the chances for a successful reentry into society after incarceration. Learn more about this state-wide program at https://bha.colorado.gov/behavioral-health/jbbs

Sheriff Brett Schroetlin shared, “The positive work done through our Jail Based Behavioral Services Program in Grand County truly touches lives when many are in their darkest hours. Offering hope and support in recovery from many of life’s wounds is a commitment we are honored to work with the State of Colorado on each and every day.”

Coat donations can be brought to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office located at 670 Spring Street in Hot Sulphur Springs during normal business hours, Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Every coat will make a difference in warming the heart and soul of those who receive its blessing and we greatly appreciate the kindness of those in our community that are able to donate.
