MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT TAKES LIFE OF PARKER THE SNOW DOG

GRAND COUNTY, CO- On December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m. the Grand County Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Highway 40 near Mile Post 175 (West of Kremmling). Emergency personnel arrived on scene and reported a dog had been critically injured in the accident and needed to be transported to a local veterinarian.

Grand County Sheriff Brett Schroetlin responded to the scene and located an injured male Bernese Mountain Dog named “Parker”. With the assistance of the Kremmling Fire Protection District and bystanders, the dog was loaded into a patrol vehicle, provided first aid and taken to a local veterinarian.

Unfortunately, Parker had sustained life-threatening injuries and passed away at the veterinarian’s office.

The Colorado State Patrol was the primary responding agency and the Sheriff’s Office response was solely to assist with the injured dog.

We have recently received several inquiries into this incident due to Parker’s notoriety as “Parker the Snow Dog” who was the honorary Mayor of Georgetown and the mascot of the Loveland Ski Area.

The Sheriff’s Office expresses its deepest condolences to Parker’s owner, family and friends during this difficult time.
