K9 MILO RETIRES FROM GRAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
GRAND COUNTY, CO- On Friday, September 6, 2024, K9 Milo worked his last shift at the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. Partnered with Deputy / Handler / School Resource Officer DJ Elthorp since 2017, the inseparable pair have been a faithful and well-loved team after working together for the past six years.
Originally from the Czech Republic and born on May 3, 2016, K9 Milo, a German Shepherd, was brought to the United States after doing his initial K9 training in Germany. Milo served the community as a dual-purpose canine certified in Patrol, Tracking and Narcotics detection.
Among many highlights in his career, K9 Milo received the High Desert Police K9 Challenge Award for 1st Place in Narcotics Detection and 2nd Place for Agility in 2021 and the Narcotics Case of the Year Award for 2022.
K9 Milo will continue to live with Deputy Elthorp in his retirement and enjoy getting to spend more time playing with the three cats and two other dogs at home.
