The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) receives information related to the exploitation of children. NCMEC also receives information from Internet Service Providers (ISP), Online Service Providers (OSP) and other Internet based social websites that may relate to the online exploitation of children.

NCMEC analysts review and attempt to determine a possible jurisdiction for the incident reported. Once the analysis is completed the information is assembled into a report called a “Cybertip.” The Cybertip is assigned a unique number for tracking.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is comprised of 61 task force lead agencies and more than 5,400 affiliated agencies. Each task force lead agency receives Cybertips that may relate to their state. The Cybertips are securely transmitted to the task force lead agency for review and further investigation.

This process led to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office being contacted in reference to this case, the subsequent investigation, and arrest.

These charges are only accusations based on probable cause, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

With the filing of this case, any additional inquiries should be directed to the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
