Flows in the Upper Colorado River are expected to top 5,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) this weekend as a result of prolonged spring runoff, constraints on the Moffat Collection System and combined reservoir releases.
The increased flow will make Needles Eye and Yarmony Rapid particularly challenging for novice rafters.
Boaters and rafters putting in at Pumphouse are strongly encouraged to be prepared:
Every person on board should be WEARING a Personal Flotation Device (life jacket).
Dress for icy cold water, including river shoes or sandals with straps (not flip flops).
Have a safety kit on board that includes throw bags.
