TRAGIC OUTCOME FROM WATER RESCUE CALL AT LAKE GRANBY
GRAND COUNTY, CO- On July 13, 2022 at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Grand County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a woman needing assistance after falling out of a kayak in Cutthroat Bay on Lake Granby in unincorporated Grand County. Sheriff’s Deputies along with Grand Lake Fire Protection District and Grand County Emergency Medical Services immediately responded to the scene.
An employee at Beacon Landing also responded and found her floating unresponsive in the water. Grand Lake Fire Protection District used their rescue boat to transport the victim to a nearby ambulance where CPR was initiated and the victim was then transported to Middle Park Medical Center in Granby. At approximately 1 p.m. the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
The victim was a seventy-five-year-old female from Arvada. The Coroner’s Office has assumed primary jurisdiction and is working with the victim’s family as the investigation remains active and ongoing. Cause and manner of death will be released by the Coroner when appropriate.
