Economic Development

The Grand County Board of Commissioners formed the Grand County Economic Development Department (GCED) in June of 2012.  Since then, GCED has built a thriving community of local leaders who work to retain, expand, and attract businesses in the county.

If you are interested in the work of this department please contact DiAnn Butler at (970) 531-1343 or email us at

esiidea_buttonRunning a business is not child’s play, but the idea of “growing our own” is the focus of an exciting three-day camp known as the Entrepreneurship Investigation (ESI) Camp from June 11 to 13 at Snow Mountain Ranch.

Sponsored by the Grand County Economic Development Department (GCED), ESI will offer students an opportunity to develop their leadership, communication and entrepreneurial skills.  The camp is open to any student who lives in Grand County and is entering grades 7 through 10 in the Fall.

This year, students interested in participating in the camp must submit a 2-minute video or a 1-page essay that explores a student-business idea. There are only 25 spots available for the camp, and only the best submissions will be selected.  To learn more or to apply, complete the online form.
