Obtaining a building permit for construction within Grand County can be a relatively simple procedure. Please allow adequate time for review from the time you submit your application until your permit is issued. Under normal circumstances this averages 2-4 weeks, but can be 6-8 weeks during construction season, which typically begins in March.

If you live out of the county, it is recommended that you be prepared to make a couple of visits during business hours Monday through Friday to properly execute your application and permit issuance, following some basic guidelines, which are outlined in this section.
No start of construction of any kind will be allowed until a building permit has been issued.
