Starting in January of 2020, a planning committee comprised of representatives from Grand County, as well as the towns, special districts, and stakeholders in the County, have updated Grand County’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. The strategy is to reduce the vulnerability of people and property to the impacts of natural hazards and to remain eligible for FEMA mitigation funding programs. The plan is consistent with FEMA’s Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 standards. This is required to maintain eligibility for certain types of federal Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants.
In order to identify and plan for future disasters, we need public input during this planning process. These questions are designed to help gauge the level of knowledge local citizens already have about natural hazards and the types of activities that should be considered to reduce future impacts. The link and public input questions will be available through September 13, 2020.
A physical copy of the Plan will be available for viewing at the Granby Library starting on Tuesday, September 8th, through Saturday, September 12th.
Thank you for your participation.
