Q:     What is the snowload in Grand County?

A:     The snowload varies throughout the county based upon elevation spacerand location. Please contact the Building Department with your legal description (Subdivision or Section, Township, Range and Elevation) to get the correct answer for your location.
 
Q:     Do I need a Building Permit?

A:     A Building Permit is required to perform any construction, spaceralteration, moving, repair, change of use, or demolition of any building or structure
Except :

A one-story detached accessory building which does not exceed 120 square feet, used as a storage shed, playhouse, or similar function, but only when in conjunction with a single family dwelling. 

Fences not over 6 feet high.

Painting, carpeting, cabinets, and similar finish work.

Concrete walks or patios not more than 12" above grade.

You do need a permit to replace drywall or roofing material or siding. Call the Building Department if you are in doubt.
 
Q:     Does Grand County require licensing of contractors or spacerhomeowners?

A.     Yes. All general contractors and sub-contractors are required to be spacerlicensed in Grand County. See the Online Services section of the Grand County Website for more information.
 
Q:     What is an "Agricultural Building"? Does it need a permit?

A:     An agricultural building is one which is used for the sole purpose of spacerproviding shelter for agricultural implements, farm products, livestock, or poultry. A pick-up truck with a farm plate is not an agricultural implement. A true agricultural building does not require a building permit, but must be built to the current Building Code and located within all zoning restrictions and set-backs.

Q:     How many layers of asphalt shingles can I have on my roof?

A:     Two, total.
 
Q:     How many layers of asphalt shingles can I have under my metal spacerroof?

A:     One
